Last updated 28 July 2026

1. Who this applies to

Everyone who uses the Sakenora platform — Clients, their staff, and Residents using the portal or mobile app.

For Clients, this forms part of the Terms of Service. Clients are responsible for their staff's compliance.

2. The basic rule

Use Sakenora for managing property, and use it lawfully, honestly and safely.

3. You must not

3.1 Break the law

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any law that applies to you — including data protection, tenancy, land, tax, consumer protection, anti-money-laundering and computer misuse laws in Kenya, Somalia, Somaliland or anywhere else you operate.
  • Use it to launder money, move the proceeds of crime, or disguise the source of funds.
  • Use it to facilitate discrimination against a tenant or applicant on any ground prohibited by law.
  • Use it to harass, threaten, intimidate or unlawfully evict any person.

3.2 Misuse personal data

  • Enter personal data you have no lawful basis to hold.
  • Collect more than you need — particularly national ID numbers, identity documents and photographs.
  • Use Resident data for any purpose unconnected with managing their tenancy, including selling it, sharing it without a lawful basis, or unrelated marketing.
  • Access, or attempt to access, records of any Resident, staff member or Client you are not authorised to see.
  • Export data in bulk for a purpose outside legitimate property management.

3.3 Falsify or forge

  • Upload or create false, forged or altered documents — fake identity documents, fake leases, fake payment receipts.
  • Submit a false proof of payment, or a reference that does not belong to you.
  • Impersonate any person, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organisation.
  • Sign a document electronically as someone else, or without their authority.
  • Falsify meter readings, invoices, expenses or any other record.

3.4 Upload harmful or unlawful content

  • Upload malware, viruses, ransomware, or code designed to damage, disable or gain unauthorised access to any system.
  • Upload content that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, or incites violence.
  • Upload material infringing anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights.
  • Upload sexual content, or any image of a person taken or shared without their consent.
  • Upload any image of a child except where you have a lawful and necessary reason to hold it.

3.5 Attack or overload the platform

  • Attempt unauthorised access to the platform, any account, or any connected server or network.
  • Probe, scan or test its vulnerability without our prior written permission (see section 5).
  • Circumvent authentication, tenant separation, rate limits or any other security control.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the platform, except where applicable law expressly permits.
  • Use bots, scrapers or crawlers, other than through an API we have authorised.
  • Deliberately impose unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or interfere with anyone else's use.

3.6 Abuse accounts and access

  • Share login credentials, or let another person use your account.
  • Create an account for someone using details they have not given you the right to use.
  • Continue to use an account after your authorisation has been withdrawn — for example after leaving your employer, or after your tenancy has ended.
  • Resell, rent or sublicense access, except that a Client may use the platform to manage properties on behalf of its own landlord clients.

3.7 Misuse communication features

  • Use announcements, maintenance requests, contact forms or any messaging feature to send spam, chain messages or unsolicited marketing.
  • Use any communication feature to harass or abuse another user.

4. Enforcement

If we reasonably believe this policy has been breached, we may:

  • investigate, including reviewing audit logs and relevant content;
  • remove or restrict the offending content;
  • suspend the account or accounts involved;
  • suspend the Client's whole account where the breach is serious, or where a Client fails to deal with a breach by its own staff or Residents;
  • terminate the agreement for material breach; and
  • report the matter to law enforcement or the relevant regulator, and cooperate with any investigation.

Where the risk allows, we will give notice before acting and limit our action to what is necessary. Where there is an immediate risk to security, to data, or to another person, we may act first and give notice afterwards.

Suspension for breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund.

If you are a Resident: your landlord can also suspend or close your account under their own rules. Contact them about anything relating to your tenancy.

5. Reporting problems

Security vulnerabilities. Report privately to support@sakenora.com (or support@sakenora.com, if different). Give us a reasonable time to fix it before disclosing publicly. Do not access, modify or download other people's data while investigating. We will not pursue legal action against anyone who reports a vulnerability in good faith and follows this section.

Abuse or unlawful content. Report to support@sakenora.com with enough detail for us to find it.

Data protection concerns. support@sakenora.com.

6. Changes

We may update this policy as the platform changes or as new risks appear. The date at the top will change. Material changes are notified to Clients under the Terms of Service.
